Externally Rare Children book Lapid HaGevura (Torch of bravery). Editor: I. Nun. Illustrations: David Gilboa. Tel-Aviv: Nizanim [1949]. The book was written inspired by the War of Independence

Story for children by Yitzchak Avnon, accompanied by eleven illustrations in color, in lithographic printing, by David Gilboa.
A patriotic tale incorporating historical events which took place during the Hasmonean revolt and story of Chanukah with events of War of Independence: in an attempt to defend their homeland, eight children travel the country trying of gather sparks of “fire of bravery” in order to ignite the collective “torch of bravery”. The children visit Tower of David, Kibbutz Negba, Tel-Chai, Degania, Kibbutz Yechiam, and additional locations.

Externally Rare Children book Totzeret Artzeinu, illustrations by David Gilboa. [Tel-Aviv, 1940s].
Verses praising products from Eretz Israel, alongside color illustrations in lithographic printing. The text and illustrations are on facing pages, and each illustration is signed in the plate.
pp, 23×16.5cm. 38 pages Good condition, several stains at borders of cover.

In the 1930s and 1940s, the Jewish community in Palestine come out with campaign called “buy only the produce of our country” ( קנו תוצרת הארץ ) campaign to strengthen the Jewish community in Ertz Israel.
This book was sponsored by manufacturers to educate children to buy only made in Israel
Each page shows a different company and its products and Kids play with these products.
Company like Tnuva, Atara Coffee, Elith, Nesher Beer, Shemen and more.
The cover shows children walking with signs “Buy made in Israel” “Hebrew Products” “Hebrew Works” and “Made in our country”

In Israel from the 1920s to the late 1960s, it was customary to sell heating oil – Kerosine directly to customers on the street corners, there was a wagon roaming the streets with an oil tanker dragged by a horse. And every time he came to the neighborhood the wagoner rang the bell to let people down the street to buy oil. What memories? 🙂

Sonol Israel, or Sonol (Hebrew: סונול‎), is an Israeli fuel provider and the country’s third largest gas station chain.^[1] The company traces its roots back to 1917 and World War I.^[2] Sonol has been indirectly controlled by the Azrieli Group since 2006.
