Description:-

Original Israeli poster that was issued during one of the General elections that took place in the 80’s. The poster reflects the public bad feeling toward the Israeli politicians.

At that time the known Israeli politicians – Shimon Peres and Itzahk Shamir were serving as prime-ministers by rotation. The poster includes both photos next to a slang word in hebrew that means “Do not care”. The twenty-first government of Israel was formed by Shimon Peres of the Alignment on 13 September 1984, following the July elections. With both the Alignment and Likud winning over 40 seats each, neither side could form a stand-alone coalition, resulting in a national unity government, together with the National Religious Party. The government was replaced by the twenty-second government on 20 October 1986, when Yitzhak Shamir replaced Peres as Prime Minister in accordance with the rotation agreement between the Alignment and Likud.

30th Independence Day Poster, Design: David Tartakover, 1978.

Israel’s thirty-year poster, designed by the artist David Tartakover, stood out not only for its message but also for its distinctive visual design, no less significant than its prophetic timing: it was released on the eve of the surprise arrival of President Anwar Sadat in Jerusalem and marked the beginning of the peace process with Egypt.

Each year since the state was established, an official poster is published by the Israeli ministry of Education commemorating Israel’s existence.

A design contest is held between the local most professional and known artists. The poster mostly contains a symbolic motive relate to the state of Israel.

Printed by the Ministry of Information of the State of Israel
