About The Artist –

Pesach Irsai (1896, Hungary – 1968, Israel), was a graphic designer, typographer, artist, and researcher of the Hebrew alphabet. He studied architecture in Budapest and after his studies worked as a graphic designer. In 1925 he immigrated to Israel, later he returned to Hungary where he worked as a modernist designer, and in 1945 he immigrated to Israel again and settled there. Considered one of the leaders of modern style in the history of Israeli graphic and typographic design, he designed posters, book covers, logos, and more. Among his important works as a typographer and graphic designer: the Haim font, considered the first modern Hebrew font (1929), the recruitment poster (1948), and the Malwa Tel Aviv Jaffa poster (1952). As an artist, Pesach Irsai created within the framework of modernism and painted, among other things, in the style of cubism. As part of his work as a researcher, he published articles on typography and design.

PAI ran in the Constituent Assembly, the first Knesset, as part of the United Religious Front. Agudat Israel is independent, in clashes between its supporters and Agudat Israel supporters [4]. It won two seats. Together with Agudat Israel it joined the coalition of the third government of Israel and Kalman Kahana served as deputy minister in the Ministry of Education. Israel left the coalition because of its opposition to the recruitment of women to the IDF. Pesach Ir Shay

István Irsai was born in 1896 in Budapest, Hungary.[1][2] He learned how to play the violin as a child.[2] He served in the Austro-Hungarian Army during World War I.[2] He subsequently studied architecture at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.[1][2]

This is an orignal rare poster sketch by the known artist Pesach Ir Shay using Goash on cardboard. Tourism posters calling people to visit Tel Aviv were later made based on this rare sketch from 1948.

Ir shay (1896-1968) was a graphic designer of the 20th century. He brought a new way of looking at practical graphics; he had a unique sense of space that he integrated into the typography of his posters, a perception of letter and image that differed from the German school brought here by immigrants from Central Europe. He represented the spirit of the period and spoke about the direct link between architecture and typography.

A rare illustrated poster of Tel-Aviv’s zoo saying Tel Aviv Zoo in Hebrew, English and Arabic. The zoo was founded by Rabbi Dr. Mordecai Schornstein, which was the chief Rabbi of Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1938 and closed in 1980. The poster shows children looking inside the lion’s cell with fear.
