“Fifth ‘Hapoel’ Convention”, illustrated poster. Lito. Press “Dafna”, 1952. Design: Richard Blass.
Illustrated poster for the fifth convention of “Hapoel” in Pesach (April) 1952.
The illustration depicts a parade of sportsmen. On the right – two flags – a red flag with the emblem of “Hapoel” and the flag of Israel.

The Hapoel convention was a national and international sports event that was held once every four years under the auspices of the President of the State of Israel. The public council of the convention was headed by the general secretary of the General Workers’ Union. The first convention was held in 1928, and the 15th and last convention was held in 1995.

In the beginning, there was a national gathering of all members of Hapoel, athletes in a variety of fields, who held meetings and competitions that lasted several days. As the number of “Hapoel” members increased, so did the nature of the event. At the center of the convention – international and national events.

“The Broom” Theater Vintage Poster Made From Chocolate Wrappers 1932, Purim celebrations invitation.

The Broom was a satirical Hebrew theater that operated during the Yishuv period and in the early days of the state. Over the years of its existence, it has produced over 70 satirical programs.

The Broom was founded in April 1928, as a stage for topical political satire, critically examining what is happening in Israel. The founder and first director of the theater was Yitzhak Moshe Daniel, who had experience in managing theaters in Bucharest and Sofia. The initial nucleus of the actors were friends who retired from the Kettle Theater.

The theater responded to every political event in the country’s life, presenting a series of satirical skits in every show on matters of immigration, Hebrew work, the Hebrew language, and the products of the country. The name of the theater is derived from the Odyssey theater called “The Red Broom”.

The material for the plays of the broom was written by writers and poets in the Land of Israel such as Emanuel the Russian and Abraham Shalonsky (who defined the broom as “the bit of tea left from the kettle”)

Rare Poster – Jerusalem The Old City, & The Great Synagogue “Tiferet Yisrael”, Yitzhak BK 1949 Palestine Ertz Israel

.
The poster was designed by Levi Yitzhak BK. He was an Israeli artist and self-taught artist, a man from the old settlement in Jerusalem.
He is known for his murals FRESCO in synagogues and yeshivot in Jerusalem.

Tiferet Yisrael Synagogue (Hebrew: בית הכנסת תפארת ישראל‎; Ashkenazi Hebrew: Tiferes Yisroel), most often spelled Tiferet Israel, also known as the Nisan Bak Shul (Yiddish: ניסן ב”ק שול‎), after its co-founder, Nisan Bak. was a prominent synagogue between 1872 and 1948 in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.

The synagogue was inaugurated in 1872 by the Ruzhin Hasidim among the members of the Old Yishuv[citation needed] and was destroyed by the Jordanian Arab Legion on 21 May 1948 during the Battle for Jerusalem of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.

The synagogue was left as ruins after the recapture of the Old City in the Six-Day War. In November 2012 the Jerusalem municipality announced its approval for plans to rebuild the synagogue.[3] The cornerstone was laid on May 27, 2014.

The Six-Day War (Hebrew: מלחמת ששת הימים, Milhemet Sheshet Ha Yamim; Arabic: النكسة, an-Naksah, “The Setback” or حرب ۱۹٦۷, Ḥarb 1967, “War of 1967”), also known as the June War, 1967 Arab–Israeli War, or Third Arab–Israeli War, was fought between June 5 and 10, 1967 by Israel and the neighboring states of Egypt (known at the time as the United Arab Republic), Jordan, and Syria. Relations between Israel and its neighbours had never fully normalised following the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. In the period leading up to June 1967, tensions became dangerously heightened. In reaction to the mobilisation of Egyptian forces along the Israeli border in the Sinai Peninsula, Israel launched a series of preemptive airstrikes against Egyptian airfields. The Egyptians were caught by surprise, and nearly the entire Egyptian air force was destroyed with few Israeli losses, giving the Israelis air superiority. Simultaneously, the Israelis launched a ground offensive into the Gaza Strip and the Sinai, which again caught the Egyptians by surprise. After some initial resistance, Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser ordered the evacuation of the Sinai. Israeli forces rushed westward in pursuit of the Egyptians, inflicted heavy losses, and conquered the Sinai. Nasser induced Syria and Jordan to begin attacks on Israel by using the initially confused situation to claim that Egypt had defeated the Israeli air strike. Israeli counterattacks resulted in the seizure of East Jerusalem as well as the West Bank from the Jordanians, while Israel’s retaliation against Syria resulted in its occupation of the Golan Heights. On June 11, a ceasefire was signed. Arab casualties were far heavier than those of Israel: fewer than a thousand Israelis had been killed compared to over 20,000 from the Arab forces. Israel’s military success was attributed to the element of surprise, an innovative and well-executed battle plan, and the poor quality and leadership of the Arab forces. Israel seized control of the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria. Israeli morale and international prestige was greatly increased by the outcome of the war and the area under Israeli control tripled. However, the speed and ease of Israel’s victory would lead to a dangerous overconfidence within the ranks of the IDF, contributing to initial Arab successes in the subsequent 1973 Yom Kippur War. The displacement of civilian populations resulting from the war would have long-term consequences, as 300,000 Palestinians fled the West Bank and about 100,000 Syrians left the Golan to become refugees. Across the Arab world, Jewish minority communities were expelled, with refugees going to Israel or Europe. WIKI
