The most fanny movie ever made in Israel

Alex Holeh Ahavah (Hebrew: אלכס חולה אהבה‎, Alex Is Lovesick) is a 1986 Israeli cult film directed by Boaz Davidson. It stars Eitan Anshel, Sharon Hacohen, and Uri Kabiri. The film, set in the 1950s, features a boy (Anshel) as the main protagonist and his life as the son of Polish immigrants.

The film is a romantic comedy that takes place in Israel during the austerity period of the 1950s. The main character is Alex, a 12-year-old boy who is about to turn 13 and attend his bar mitzvah.

Alex comes from a poor, dysfunctional family of Polish Jewish origin whose poverty requires them to share their apartment. Their tenant is Faruk, a Persian man whose humorous battle against baldness is a running bit in the film.

At first, Alex falls in love with Mimi, the new girl in his class. Everything changes, however, when his aunt Lola arrives in Israel from Poland to search for a lost love with whom she once lived but who vanished after the Nazi invasion of Poland. Alex falls for his aunt and she responds by providing the soon-to-be 13-year-old with more than familial love.

The film authentically recreates the atmosphere of the country in the 1950s, known as the Austerity in Israel, including the black market, radio broadcasts concentrating on the search for lost relatives, music and pastimes of the 1950s and the era’s clothing and dress styles.

Sallah Shabati (Hebrew: סאלח שבתי) is a 1964 Israeli comedy film about the chaos of Israeli immigration and resettlement. This social satire placed the director Ephraim Kishon and producer Menahem Golan among the first Israeli filmmakers to achieve international success. It also introduced actor Chaim Topol (Fiddler on the Roof) to audiences worldwide.
the poster printed in 1965

The protagonist’s name, Sallah Shabati, is perhaps a play on the phrase ‘Sliḥa she’bati, “I apologize for coming”. In earlier print versions of Kishon’s short stories which were revised for the film, the character was known as Saadia Shabtai.

Chaim Topol in”The Rooster”\ “Boys Will Never Believe It” Vintage Israeli Movie poster, Israel 1971

The Rooster is an Israeli comedy film from 1971 starring Haim Topol and directed by Uri Zohar.

The film describes the difficult life of IDF soldiers in the war of attrition in the south. They are subjected to rocket fire, cut off from their families and just want a vacation. This is also described in the theme song “I Want to live”, sung by Haim Topol, who plays the role of a sergeant in the army, serving in the canal Suez. He goes on a few day’s vacation and is supposed to meet his wife for a divorce ceremony in the rabbinical. In the meantime, he hangs out with random women, and goes through some erotic adventures, all the while thinking that the guys at home won’t believe him, so the movie is called in English except for “The Rooster”, also “Boys Will Never Believe It”.

Extremely Rare One-of-a-kind “Modern Times” Charlie Chaplin Large Poster, Eden Theater 1936, Tel Aviv
“Modern Times” is perhaps more meaningful now than at any time since its first release. The twentieth-century theme of the film, farsighted for its time—the struggle to eschew alienation and preserve humanity in a modern, mechanized world—profoundly reflects issues confronting the twenty-first century.

A satirical comedy that takes place in Israel, about a rivalry between a Yemenite shoe seller named Zion Tsanani and a Persian shoe seller named Ben Naim Siman Tov, who lives in the neighborhood. The son of a good sign, begins with the daughter of Mr. Tsanani, at the encouragement of his father. While Mr. Tsanani is appalled by the fact that his daughter is dating the son of a good sign. Ziona Tsanani’s birthday is approaching, and her husband Zion, buys her a ring worth a whopping twenty thousand pounds, to atone for the crisis in her marriage. Before he has enough to give the ring to his wife, their grandson swallows it, and everyone tries to find the ring in the secretions in the boy’s pot.
