The Herut movement – an impressive and rare election poster.
Political and significant election poster of the Harut movement “If You Want To Eliminate The Key Regime Give Your Voice To Herut””, 1951 elections.
A colorful poster in lithographic print, a rare poster that shows the essence of the rivalry between the two competing ideologies in Israel.
The poster is designed in the style of socialist realism (absurdly)
This very rare vintage poster was issued by the Herut movement as part of the election campaign in Israel in 1951. Herut was the major right-wing nationalist political party in Israel from 1948 until its formal merger into Likud in 1988. It was an adherent of Revisionist Zionism and was initially known in part for its militia actions; it became more moderate in the 1950s.

Rare War Bond Poster of National Loan For Israeli Independence War 1948 “War Loan is Victory Loan”
National Loan
The national loan was a voluntary lender to finance the expenses of the War of Independence, decided by the MINHELT HAAM (Pre-Israeli government), prior to the establishment of the state.

On December 18, 1947, a proposal was made to declare a “national loan” . At the second meeting of the MINHELT HAAM, on April 26, 1948, it was decided to hold a national loan in the amount of 5,000,000 Israeli pounds, in order to finance the campaign that the settlement has been in since November 29.

The public was asked to buy from the banks, starting May 11, 1948, loan certificates in which the buyer lent his money to the Jewish Agency, for a period of 5 years at an interest rate of 3%. The lender guaranteed the Keren Hayesod and the Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael their real estate assets and income.

Lender certificates were a tradable document and the public at all levels was called upon to purchase them. In a proclamation published on May 2, 1948, the People’s Administration called on the public:

“Participation in a lender is not a tax payment, but an investment of funds on a secure banking basis … Every Jew will see the provision of the necessary means for the struggle for our existence and our future as an absolute necessity. Every Jew will participate in the national lender to the fullest ability.”

The money of the national lender was used by the locality and the state in its early days to finance the heavy expenses of conducting the War of Independence. Following the declaration of the state, the national lender was followed by a number of lenders on behalf of the Israeli government.

Purchasers of loan certificates were promised a linkage of the exchange rate, three US dollars per pound.

The Suez Crisis, or the Second Arab–Israeli war also called the Tripartite Aggression (Arabic: العدوان الثلاثي, romanized: Al-ʿUdwān aṯ-Ṯulāṯiyy) in the Arab world[18] and the Sinai War in Israel,[19] was an invasion of Egypt in late 1956 by Israel, followed by the United Kingdom and France. The aims were to regain control of the Suez Canal for the Western powers and to remove Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser, who had just swiftly nationalised the foreign-owned Suez Canal Company, which administered the canal. After the fighting had started, political pressure from the United States, the Soviet Union and the United Nations led to a withdrawal by the three invaders. The episode humiliated the United Kingdom and France and strengthened Nasser.

Simchat Beit HaShoeivah (Jewish feast of water-drawing) and celebrations of the Decade of Israel in the Yavneh Group 1958

Simchat Beit Hashoeva is an ancient Jewish custom that took place during the Sukkot holiday in preparation for the pumping of water for the mitzvah of drawing water into the Temple. Throughout the year, wine was offered on the altar with the sacrifices offered, and on the only seven days of Sukkot, water was added. On weekdays, the water was accompanied by a series of especially happy ceremonies called “Simchat Beit Hashoeva”. They lasted all night and ended with the pumping of water from the Shiloah spring and their placement on the altar in the morning.

The Tel Aviv Zoo was a zoo founded in 1938 and located in central Tel Aviv. The zoo closed in 1980 and the animals were moved to the Zoological Center of Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan. The Gan Ha’Ir shopping mall now occupies the zoo’s site.

History
When Rabbi Dr. Mordecai Schornstein arrived in Tel Aviv from Copenhagen in 1935, he had purchased some animals in Italy, and started a pet shop at 15 Shenkin Street which he named ‘Gan Hayot’ (‘zoo’ in Hebrew). In 1938 he started the zoo at 65 Hayarkon Street. After some lions and tigers were donated to the zoo, it caused too much disruption in the neighborhood, and was moved to its location behind city hall in 1939.
In the late 1960s and 1970s the zoo was one of the few zoos in the world to successfully breed flamingos.
In 1981, the animals were moved out of the city to the Tel Aviv-Ramat Gan Zoological Center. The Gan Ha’Ir shopping mall now occupies the site of the former zoo. The zoo was home to four elephants when it was closed, two of which were moved to Ramat Gan and two of which were moved elsewhere. Three are still alive as of 2010.
