Ahead of the ninth Independence Day of the State of Israel, a celebratory soccer match was held at the Ramat Gan Stadium between the IDF team, which was made up of Israel National Team players who had been drafted into the reserves, and the French Army National Team. The Israeli National Team won 3:1 in front of about 40,000 spectators, and David Ben-Gurion was present for the first time in a football game.
