Chaim Topol in”The Rooster”\ “Boys Will Never Believe It” Vintage Israeli Movie poster, Israel 1971
The Rooster is an Israeli comedy film from 1971 starring Haim Topol and directed by Uri Zohar.
The film describes the difficult life of IDF soldiers in the war of attrition in the south. They are subjected to rocket fire, cut off from their families and just want a vacation. This is also described in the theme song “I Want to live”, sung by Haim Topol, who plays the role of a sergeant in the army, serving in the canal Suez. He goes on a few day’s vacation and is supposed to meet his wife for a divorce ceremony in the rabbinical. In the meantime, he hangs out with random women, and goes through some erotic adventures, all the while thinking that the guys at home won’t believe him, so the movie is called in English except for “The Rooster”, also “Boys Will Never Believe It”.
