A rare first English edition of The Jewish War Front, published in London at the height of World War II. Written in English by Ze’ev Jabotinsky, one of the most influential Zionist thinkers and political leaders of the 20th century, the book articulates his urgent call for Jewish military participation in the Allied war effort and for international recognition of Jewish national claims.
This edition precedes the Hebrew translation, which appeared a year later and was translated by Yehoshua Heschel Yivin, making the English original particularly significant both historically and bibliographically. The book reflects Jabotinsky’s final political vision, formulated shortly before his death in 1940.

Historical Significance Published during a decisive moment of the war, this volume is both a political manifesto and a historical document, capturing Jabotinsky’s uncompromising stance on Jewish self-defense, sovereignty, and participation in global affairs. Copies retaining the original dust-jacket are increasingly scarce.
A compelling and collectible item for scholars, collectors of Zionist history, and libraries focusing on Jewish political thought and World War II–era publications.
Ze’ev (Vladimir) Jabotinsky (1880–1940) was one of the most influential Jewish political thinkers and leaders of the 20th century, a writer, journalist, orator, and founder of Revisionist Zionism. Born in Odessa, he was a gifted linguist and intellectual who combined literary talent with sharp political vision.
Jabotinsky was a passionate advocate of Jewish self-defense and national sovereignty. During World War I he played a key role in the creation of the Jewish Legion within the British Army, believing that Jewish military participation was essential for securing international recognition of Jewish national rights. He later founded the Revisionist movement, which called for an unequivocal commitment to a Jewish state and a strong Jewish military force.
A prolific author, Jabotinsky wrote political essays, novels, poetry, and journalism in several languages. In his final years, as Europe descended into war, he warned urgently of the coming catastrophe facing European Jewry and called for mass evacuation and organized Jewish armed action. He died in exile in 1940, but his ideas profoundly shaped later Zionist politics and the ideological foundations of the State of Israel.
