Chanukah lamp used as “Mizrach” (East) – Morocco
Hanukkah lamp. [Morocco, first half of the 20th century].
Cut tin, drilled and embedded; Chisel work.
A Hanukkah lamp that was also used as an “east”. In the center of the back wall are a seven-branched lamp, a shofar and a miter. In the center of the lamp is engraved the inscription “Mizrach”, and above it is the inscription “These candles are holy”. Two Star of David trapped in flowers appear to the left and right of the lamp. At the top of the wall is a pair of birds. The side walls as well as the side edges of the back wall are decorated with drilled triangles and additional geometric patterns.
Length: 29.5 cm, width: 28 cm. Weight: 586 grams. Good condition.
