Original Drawing – Chaim Topol depicts Menachem Begin (2002)
A pencil drawing by the renowned actor and artist Chaim Topol (1935–2023), from his series “Important Figures.” The work portrays Menachem Begin (1913–1992), commander of the Irgun, founder of the Likud party, and Israel’s sixth Prime Minister. Begin led the signing of the historic 1979 peace treaty with Egypt, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Topol, celebrated worldwide for his role as Tevye the Milkman in Fiddler on the Roof, was not only a distinguished actor but also a gifted illustrator and multi-disciplinary creator. In this rare series of portraits, he chose to capture key personalities who shaped Israel’s history and culture.
The drawing is hand-signed by the artist, dated 2002, and stands as a rare and unique piece of Israeli memorabilia — blending art, culture, and Israeli history.
