I Have No Other Country – 70 Years of Israeli Independence Day Posters

The Farkash Gallery is proud to present the first and only comprehensive album documenting the Israeli Independence Day posters from 1948 to the last one produced in 2016.

This evening in Israel, we will commemorate the Memorial Evening for the Fallen Soldiers of the Wars of Israel and Victims of Acts of Terrorism. Tomorrow, as per tradition, we will continue commemorating both Memorial Day and the evening of Israeli Independence Day. The album spotlights the symbols and imagery created by the beloved Independence Day posters. Over the decades, these visual expressions have defined the Israeli national identity, fostered a sense of belonging, and helped strengthen the ties between Israel and the Jewish diaspora.

This year, our Memorial Day will be more painful than ever, and the Independence Day celebration will be subdued and much smaller than in any previous year. We kept on thinking of a way to honor our independence and uplift our spirits amid so many losses. We found strength and inspiration in the Independence Day posters, and we hope you will too.

We dedicate this album to all those who have fought and are still fighting for our freedom, and to those who were not fortunate enough to see the fruits of their labor. We will continue to celebrate our independence and remember the victims and fighters, even when the world looks away! We pray for the return of all hostages, men, women, and soldiers held in Gaza, and for the safe return of all IDF soldiers still defending us.
