Vintage 1950s Tnuva Ice Cream Poster

Original Israeli advertising poster from the 1950s promoting Tnuva ice cream, designed by Hovev Karoubi. Printed in original lithographic technique, the poster is an excellent example of early Israeli graphic design, combining bold modernist composition with dynamic Hebrew typography.

At the center of the composition appears a dramatic oversized ice cream cone filled with colorful products and fruits — bananas, pears, pineapple, chocolate, and bottles of milk and cream associated with Tnuva’s dairy products. The striking geometric design and rich color palette create a sense of abundance and optimism characteristic of Israel’s early statehood years.

The main Hebrew slogan reads:
“Selected Ice Cream”

Below appears the promotional line:
“And a Gift of Life: A Beautiful Album of Israeli Athletes”

At the bottom:
“Ice Cream Manufacturers of the General Merchants Association in Israel”

The poster beautifully reflects the visual culture of 1950s Israel, when commercial advertising merged with themes of local production, health, sports, and the creation of a modern national identity.
