“New Aliyah Party” Extremely Rare Vintage Israeli Election Poster,1945. It showcases the New Aliyah Party (עלייה חדשה), a pivotal Zionist political party in the era of British Mandate Palestine.
Formed in 1942, the New Aliyah Party was created by immigrants from Austria and Germany who had arrived during the Fifth Aliyah. These individuals, many of whom were Holocaust survivors, sought a peaceful approach to establishing their place in Eretz Israel by negotiating with the British Mandate, avoiding conflict.
In the 1944 elections for the Assembly of Representatives, the party secured 18 seats, becoming the third-largest political force after Mapai and the Left Front. Their influence shaped Zionist policy during a critical moment in Jewish history.
Pinchas Rosen, the party leader, became a member of Israel’s provisional government in May 1948. By the end of the same year, the New Aliyah Party merged with other liberal groups to form the Progressive Party, continuing to influence the nascent Israeli state.
