Original Israeli concert poster for the famous Belgian singer Adamo, designed by Hovav Kruvi in 1966. Created for Adamo’s appearance in Israel, the poster is a striking example of mid-century Israeli graphic design and music promotion during the cultural boom of the 1960s.
The composition is dominated by a dramatic black-and-white photographic portrait of Adamo shown in profile against a deep black background. His youthful expression and elegant appearance are emphasized through high-contrast zincographic printing, creating a cinematic and sophisticated visual effect. The minimalist composition is interrupted by a bold red horizontal band carrying the artist’s name in oversized Hebrew typography, balanced with the Latin “ADAMO” above it.
At the top of the poster appears the Hebrew text:
“Under the auspices of the Cultural Services Company in Israel”
while the lower section announces the performance details:
“October 18, 1966 – 8:15 PM – Allenby Cinema, Tel Aviv”
followed by:
“Tickets available at the leading offices”
The combination of stark monochrome photography, modernist typography, and bold red graphic elements reflects the international design influences that shaped Israeli poster art during the 1960s.
