A rare and historical collectible marking 50 years of Kibbutz settlement, from 1911 (תרע”א) to 1961 (תשכ”א), the Jubilee year of the “Mother of the Kvutzot,” Degania. Produced by the Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), this poster serves as an impressive visual document of the Zionist enterprise and the building of the Land of Israel.

As can be seen in the file “Vintage Poster Map of the Kibbutz Settlement, Jubilee Years For The Mother of the kibbutzim Degania 1961.jpg”, the map was brilliantly designed by artist and illustrator Shmuel Katz. At its center is a map of Israel dotted with miniature illustrations of settlements, agriculture, and landscapes. Degania – “The Mother of the Kvutzot” Established in 1910 in the Jordan Valley region near the Sea of Galilee by pioneers of the Second Aliyah, Degania rightfully earned the historical title “Mother of the Kvutzot” (Mother of the Kibbutzim). It was the first cooperative settlement in the Land of Israel based on principles of equality, Hebrew labor, economic sharing, and independent agriculture. Degania’s groundbreaking social and ideological model laid the foundation for the establishment of the entire Kibbutz movement, which played a crucial role in shaping the country’s borders, agriculture, and Israel’s security. In 1961, Degania celebrated its Jubilee year, and this festive map was produced to commemorate this national occasion.
