very rare large El Al Vintage Tin Sign – 1960s (Boeing 707)
Bring home, to the studio, or to the office an exciting piece of Israeli aviation history!
Here is an original, large, and very rare tin sign of the “El Al” airline from the early 1960s. This is a definitive collector’s item that is hard to find nowadays. Even though it is a historical piece, the sign features a modern, clean, and timeless design that blends wonderfully even in contemporary spaces. It is precisely graphically divided into three prominent panels: the company logo in Hebrew in bright orange on a dark blue background, an elegant illustration of a passenger plane on a light blue sky background, and the English logo (EL AL) at the bottom.
The plane appearing in the center of the sign is the Boeing 707 – El Al’s first jet aircraft, which upon landing in Israel in 1961 received the symbolic name “Shehecheyanu”. This sign is not only beautifully designed, but it also symbolizes the moment Israel officially entered the “Jet Age”.
This is a perfect collector’s item for aviation enthusiasts, crazy fans of Israeli nostalgia, or anyone looking for a very rare and hard to find item with presence and a story.
Material: Painted tin
Dimensions (cm): Height 159 cm | Width 59 cm
Dimensions (inches): Height 62.6 inches | Width 23.2 inches
Era: 1960s
Purpose: A spectacular design piece for wall hanging
The sign is an authentic and original vintage item, and the fact that it is so hard to find makes it a highly sought-after collector’s item. It lovingly bears the marks of time, which include natural wear, light scratches, and rust spots (especially around the edges). These flaws are natural for an item of its age and do not detract from its beauty, but on the contrary – they tell its history and give it an authentic look and a unique character that cannot be found today.
