Description

Vintage Israeli poster issued by the General Zionists. The man that is standing is Peretz Bernstein who was the Minister of Trade and Industry and the leader of the party.

In the bottom it says “We need to question weather the immigration to Israel Strengthens us or weakens?”. By this Peretz wanted to have a serious discussion about Israel’s economic capabilities to handle with a large scale immigration.

Peretz Bernstein was a Zionist activist and Israeli politician and one of the signatories of the Israeli declaration of independence. He was elected to the first Knesset in 1949 as a member of the General Zionists, but lost his place in the cabinet. Re-elected in 1951, he returned to the cabinet as Minister of Trade and Industry in the fourth and fifth governments.
