Original Vintage Israeli Poster

Original poster from 1981, produced to commemorate Nature Conservation Week in Israel, held from January 16–25, 1981 (11–20 Shevat 5741).

The poster features a central grid of nine squares combining sections of topographical maps of different regions of Israel with photographs of local wildlife and landscapes, including a Nubian ibex, White-breasted Kingfisher, Emperor Angelfish, stalactite cave, flowing streams, and blooming Paeonia mascula (Mount Carmel peony).

In the foreground are illustrations of green field binoculars and a canteen with a fabric cover manufactured by HAGOR. The lower section features the slogan “A Thousand Landscapes and Colors in the Nature Reserves”, together with the logos of the organizations and sponsors involved in the event, including Bank Hapoalim, the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel, the Nature Reserves Authority, KKL-JNF, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Council for a Beautiful Israel.

An attractive and historically significant example of early 1980s Israeli graphic design, combining maps, nature photography, wildlife imagery, and an environmental conservation message. An excellent addition to collections of Israeli posters, Israel history, environmental history, nature, graphic design, and Jewish/Israel memorabilia.
