The first and best-known name for Pesach is Chag HaHerut (the holiday of freedom). Representing our ancestors’ struggles and release from slavery in Egypt. Unfortunately, Chag HaHerut is more relevant than ever, as we pray for the release of all the hostages held in Gaza and the safe return of our brave soldiers.

We will remind Iran and all who are constantly trying to kill us that we are here and we are free. Together we will win, Am Israel Hai!

Happy Pesach, Chag Sameach!

Fraksh Gallery is delighted to showcase the newest additions to our collection. We are constantly on the lookout for exceptional pieces that stand out for their unique style, historical value, aesthetic appeal, and artistic merit.

Among our recent additions, one poster, in particular, stands out for its historical value and excellent design: the 1949 Israeli Air Force recruitment poster titled ‘Youth – Join the Pilot Course!’. This iconic piece marked the inception of the Israeli Air Force and its renowned pilot training course, considered among the most challenging in the IDF and undeniably the most celebrated.

Printed shortly after the Israeli Independence War (1949-1950), this poster remains in remarkable condition, with only two such posters known to survive —one archived in the Zionist collection and the other proudly presented here.

Another standout is a beautiful Jewish Legion recruitment poster for Jewish youth. Designed in 1940 by the esteemed graphic artist Franz Kraus, this poster was presented during ‘Youth Week’. The Jewish Legion, founded by Ze’ev Jabotinsky during World War I, consisted of five Jewish volunteer battalions within the British Army. Their mission was rooted in the belief that active Jewish participation in global affairs was essential to advancing the Zionist cause and ultimately establishing a Jewish state.

Whether you are a seasoned collector or an Israeli art lover, we invite you to explore and discover the beauty and value of these pieces. We’re always on hand to provide insights and information about each piece.

In honor of Rosh Hashanah, The Gallery is pleased to share this special Shana Tova letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, a highly influential figure in 20th-century Jewish life.

The Rebbe, breaking from his usual practice, personally inscribed a unique blessing in his own handwriting on this letter, reading “Redemption of the soul received.” This not only acknowledged the recipient’s request but also conveyed his own divine blessing.

Seeking “Redemption of a soul” involves approaching a righteous individual to intercede and transform adversity into positivity. People worldwide submitted their names for blessings and guidance to the Lubavitcher Rebbe. The Rebbe explained that the righteous act as intermediaries, imploring the Creator to alter fate for the better. According to Chabad tradition, conducting a redemption of souls on the eve of Rosh Hashanah signifies hope and renewal in the new year.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe extended his influence well beyond Chabad’s boundaries, esteemed not only by Torah scholars but also by statesmen, military leaders, and presidents. While scientists and artists were closely associated with his work. His impact resonates across Jewish communities, transcending sects and backgrounds, making him a truly exceptional leader to this day.

The Rebbe was a visionary in understanding global and national processes,  his personal charm, graceful demeanor, impressive appearance, and piercing eyes left a lasting impression. His radiant legacy continues to inspire the people of Israel to this day. His path and spiritual teachings remain one of the guiding torches, illuminating our journey.

From a targeted operation to the occupation of Sinai and the Golan Heights, from the Jordanian sniper fire to the reverberating sound of the shofar at the Western Wall –

The historic six days of fighting in June 1967 commenced with an overwhelming fear of annihilation and culminated in a wave of euphoria and ignited dreams of a fully realized Land of Israel. These momentous six days forever altered the course of history.

At the culmination of an intense 60-hour IDF campaign: Old Jerusalem, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and the Sinai front – all in the grasp of Israel; “The Straits of Tiran forcibly reopened” – blared the headline of “Haaretz” on the morning of June 8, 1967, heralding the fourth day of the Six Day War. What commenced as a devastating airstrike that left the air forces of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria virtually incapacitated swiftly transformed into a lightning-fast blitzkrieg, propelling the IDF to swiftly conquer the Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip, the Old City, the West Bank, and the Golan Heights over the course of just six days.

June 1967 marked a pivotal war that expanded Israel’s borders but also instilled profound euphoria within the hearts of the country’s residents and armed forces. The far-reaching accomplishments, as well as the enduring consequences, of this war, continue to shape the destiny of Israel and reverberate throughout the entire region even to this day.

As Shavuot approaches this week, excitement builds for this extraordinary Jewish holiday on the calendar.

Referred to by various names like “Shavuot,” “Bikurim,” and “Matan Torah,” it holds a special place among the three captivating pilgrimage festivals to Jerusalem. This unique one-day celebration in Israel is filled with a delightful array of traditions that enthrall people from all walks of life.

To pay homage to the Shavuot tradition, we have curated a collection of vintage advertising posters that revolve around famous Shavuot traditions – milk products, fruits, and agriculture. Enjoy these timeless pieces and have a joyful Shavuot!

One of the most beloved traditions of Shavuot is the celebration of the country’s dairy produce, justifying its moniker as “The Land of Milk and Honey.” Cheesecakes, lasagnas, ice cream, quiches, and cheeseboards are all eagerly anticipated on the festive table.

Shavuot is also renowned for its celebration of Israel’s agriculture. It was during this time of year that Jews would offer the first wheat harvest at the Temple in Jerusalem. Today, kibbutzim and moshavs host agricultural festivals on Shavuot, and a symbolic “offering” of Israeli produce is presented to the president of Israel in Jerusalem—a modern-day pilgrimage.

Wishing you all a joyful Shavuot!

Jerusalem Day –  56 Years Since The Reunification of Jerusalemhttps://farkash-gallery.com/jerusalem-day-56-years-since-the-unification-of-the-city/ Tue, 09 May 2023 11:33:19 +0000 https://farkash-gallery.com/?p=8927 56 Years Since The Reunification of Jerusalem, The Eternal City

The post Jerusalem Day –  56 Years Since The Reunification of Jerusalem first appeared on VINTAGE ISRAELI POSTERS.

]]>

This week, on the 28th of Iyar, we will celebrate Jerusalem Day – a day to honor and commemorate the liberation of the eternal city of Jerusalem.

On June 7, 1967, during the Six-Day War, Jerusalem was reunited under Israeli sovereignty after years of Jordanian rule. Since then, this historic day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy by the people of Israel.

The celebrations start with the “Rural Communities Salute Jerusalem” parade, held a day or two before the holiday. Thousands of people, including members of kibbutzim and moshavim, and rural education institutions, march in the parade, showing their gratitude towards Jerusalem. On the eve of Jerusalem Day, a grand thanksgiving gathering is held at Mercaz Harav Yeshiva in Jerusalem, with the participation of rabbis and public figures. This event sets the tone for the celebrations to come.

Jerusalem Day is marked by festive ceremonies both inside and outside the city, along with state memorial services to pay homage to the soldiers who lost their lives in the Six-Day War. State service is conducted at Ammunition Hill, which saw one of the toughest battles for the city. The Jerusalem Municipality also presents the “Yakir Yerushalayim” awards to deserving citizens who have contributed to the city’s growth and development. However, the highlight of the day is the “March of Flags,” also known as the “Dance of Flags,” held in the afternoon hours. Thousands of young people from the religious Zionist movement come to Jerusalem to participate in this event. The celebrants conduct a grand procession with songs, dances, and flag-waving, starting from the city center and entering the Old City. The procession culminates at the Western Wall, where a mass prayer of thanksgiving is offered.

Jerusalem, the eternal city, is the symbol of Israel’s unity, strength, and resilience. Let us celebrate this day with great enthusiasm and pride, and reiterate our commitment to this beautiful city.

Wishing you all a happy Jerusalem Day!
